Another exciting week for JHS Athletics.  As the winter season comes to a end our programs are participating in culminating events like Metro Championships and playoffs.

This week JHS wrestling team participated in the Orange County  Metro Championship at Freedom High school.

The Lady Tigers Basketball team had a visit from JHS Alum and WNBA player Shovante Zellous.  Ms. Zellous gave them encouraging words to push into District Playoffs.  The Lady Tigers are the number one seed going into districts.  The semi-final round (2/7) being played at Vanguard High school in Ocala and the Championship game 4pm Saturday (2/8).  If the Ladies win Districts the will have home court advantage for Regionals.  Quarterfinals 2/13, Semi-finals 2/18, and the Regional Championship 2/28.

Boys Basketball as well are seeded number one for their District playoffs tournament to be played next week.  The team has a bye for the first round with the semi-final round being played at Belleview High on (2/12) and the District Championship round being played (2/14).  Similar to the girls if the Boys win Districts they will also have home court advantage for the Regional Tournament.  The quarterfinal will play 2/20  , semi-final 2/24, and Regional Championship 2/28th.

All Regional games for boys and girls will  be played at 7pm  and $7 entry.  The only pass accepted is the  FHSAA State Series Passes at any facility hosting the games.

Be on the lookout for the upcoming spring sports: Boys Volleyball, Boys WeightLifting, Girls Flag Football, Boys and Girls Tennis, Baseball, Softball, Boys and Girls Lacrosse (LAX), and Boys and Girls Track and Field.
