It’s win or go home time. Jones tigers defeated leesburg Friday night Feb 7,2020 at host school vanguard. The lady tigers dominated leesburg early in the regular season . Tigers on a 7 day break since the last time playing a game had a very slow start. Leesburg came out fighting exchanging baskets early in the 1st quarter. Tigers never rattled as they stuck to the game plan. Underclassman Cosianna “Noodles” Williams play big last night with 5pts 5rebounds and 2steals. Her minutes increased tonight, her game picked up as she was in the groove early.Also junior Takiyah ”Shy Guy” Alston the best 2021 point guard in Orange County handle the ball with care all night with zero turnovers. Alston does it all you name she can do it with 4pts 4rebounds 5assist 5 steals. Alston hard work and dedication in practice is key components to her success on the court. Late in the game Alston nails a pair for free throws to keep the pressure on leesburg. I love watching Shy guy handle the ball I be amazed at her combinations she put together while dribbling said Coach Jacobs.

 Alston speed and quickness off the dribble was trouble for leesburg all night. Shy guy did not play shy last night as her team mates fed off her energy. Jamiyah Coleman a phenomenal sophomore didn’t  hesitate to join the Action by putting up some great numbers . 5pts 5bebounds 2assist 5 steals . Tigers young core doing exactly what needs to be done displaying excellent sportsmanship and being great role players.Lady tigers has a big 2020 senior class. My present has to embrace my future in order for this team to win a state championship, said Coach Jacobs. Senior alanta partee lead the way with her 5th double double of the year. Partee had 13 points 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. Leesburg had no answer for the 6’3 fundamentally sound post player. Alanta made her presence known down low in the paint with 6 offensive rebounds. Renada “Scooby” Schofield another 6’1 post player snatched every defensive rebound came her way. Coach Harp pushes his post player to play physical on defense , keeping moving on offense, and finish at the rim strong.

Senior Ra’Niyah “And1” White a true combination guard came off the bench with leadership , energy, and aggressive defense. Ra’Niyah gave the lady tigers exactly what they needed to keep this train rolling full steam ahead. Ra’Niyah had 11pts 5 rebound 3assist 8steals moving forward into district play. White with several offers on the table is very interested in penn state, Lander college, and State Fair College. Her impressive attitude coming off the bench was key for the young girls as they fed off her energy.

 

Leesburg didn’t go down easy as they fought back with a great game plan the first half closing the half 21-20 with a 6-0 run in the last 2:33 seconds of the 1st half. But jones coaching staff experience was too much for leesburg. Tigers staff made adjustments at halftime and the lady tigers executed it by being consistent on offense and defense. Coach Reunna Lovette said to coach Jacobs let’s stop playing with these people coach and turn up the heat. Coach Jacobs than looks at coach Daija as she says package personnel with well now let’s go lion package and finish them off. Coach didn’t hesitate to turn up the heat as lion pack applied so much pressure , they create 4 steals with 43 seconds into second half to spark and 8-0 run early in second half. The lady tigers never looked back from there. Being up by 14 Coach Jacobs asks Coach Harp do you see something we need to do,  Coach Harp said yes sir I want to see us keep the ball away and close the game with 6 minutes left in fourth quarter. Coach Jacobs immediately called time out, made the adjustments and made sure the girls understood what to do. The seniors did just that to close the game 55-43. The lady tigers will play Saturday Feb.8,2020 4pm at vanguard high school for district championship.
