Tigers News · Jones High Girls Basketball advances to Regional Championship


The girls basketball team played a tough Hertiage team on Tuesday night. Heritage came out on fire to open with 3 made 3 pointers. Jones’ Coach Harold Jacobs was forced to use 3 time outs early in the 1st quarter in attempts to kill Heritage’s momentum.

 

The lady tigers trailed majority of the game until late in the 4th quarter. Down by 3points Raniya White knocked down her only 3 pointer of the game to tie with Heritage 56-56. The Lady Tigers immediately jumped into a full court press.

 

 

Ra’Niya White came up with a loose ball tie up, which gave Jones High possession.  The Lady Tigers in bounded to Alanta Partee under the basket where she was fouled. Alanta went 1 for 1 at the free throw line. Heritage sniper #22, who had already hit nine 3 pointers,  put up a shot with .24 seconds on the clock and missed. Takiyah Alston got the rebound and went coast to coast to draw the foul.  Alston went 1 for 1 at the line and put JONES HIGH up 58-56 to win the regional semi-final game.

Alanta Partee led the way with her 10th double double of the season.

The lady Tigers play Friday night at Jones high school 7pm vs palm bay. winner goes to state tournament in Lakeland
